■ NAME: Damon Salvatore
■ CANON: The Vampire Diaries (Up to Season 3)
■ AGE: Physically: 25 / Actually: 174
■ PHYSICAL AFFECTION:

■ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE:

■ RELATIONSHIPS: With his current canon point in mind, a romantic relationship with someone that isn't Elena isn't likely going to happen unless something extreme happens.

■ MENTAL INFORMATION:

(Putting this here because it didn't feel like "medical information"): Damon and any other vampire can't enter a residence without being invited inside by the living owners.

See below for information on his compulsion abilities.

■ MEDICAL INFORMATION: Vampires have quite a few advantages over baseline humans. They're much faster and stronger, and their senses are enhanced. Hearing is probably the most touched upon (a vampire can hear someone whispering across a crowded bar). The author of the books states that their night vision is also better, as you’d expect from nocturnal predators, but still not capable of seeing in pitch blackness--so basically like cats.

A healthy vampire can not only heal at a rapid rate, but their blood can heal other people.

■ OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS & TRIGGERS:

■ WARNINGS / OPT-OUT

Please read this as it pertains to potential triggering material.

These vampires may not be able to sparkle in the sunlight, but they do have an ability known as compulsion. What this means is that this canon's vampires are capable of controlling other people's minds and forcing their will upon them, primarily through staring into their eyes and hypnotizing them into doing whatever they tell them to do.

Some canon applications of this power include:

• Subduing their victims so they can feed on them without a struggle
• Forcing someone to tell the truth or otherwise say what the vampire wants them to say
• Designing feelings of loyalty, affection, or even attraction
• Erasing memories and implanting new ones (something that might not be reversed unless another vampire snaps them out of it, or they become a vampire themselves)
• Going in someone's head when they're asleep and altering their dreamscape
• Causing a human to harm, mutilate, or even kill themselves upon request

To say that Damon is not conflicted about compelling people when he needs to is an understatement, and he's had over a hundred years to hone this ability. Though with even that in mind, he does not have the ability to compel other vampires, or people that are under the influence of vervain. There's also a character that trained himself to resist compulsion, so it's easy to say that another character that has significant psychic abilities or strong force of will could resist compulsion. It could be anything from an uphill struggle for dominance to being outright impossible, depending on where you think your character lands on the spectrum.

Please fill out the following form in a comment with each of your characters (if you have more than one):

Or otherwise just let me know if this is something you absolutely never want to deal with. Should a thread ever look like it's heading in this direction, I'll contact you through PM or plurk so we can work out what's going to happen, whether that means moving ahead with the (attempted) compulsion or working out a way to avoid it altogether.

And if you have any other questions or need more information, just let me know and I'll be happy to help!
